Each Transitional Kindergartner's day is filled with rich and exciting opportunities to develop and grow.
A portion of each day is set aside for academic development. During this time, children have reading, language, and math instruction and work on skills either individually or with a small group. Students also explore social studies through theme-based units, a science curriculum taught by a science specialist, and literacy skills with a specialist in reading and language development. Additionally, students explore inquiry-based science topics in their classrooms.
Our science program is designed to promote the development of scientific thinking through active involvement. Students don't learn science, they experience science through exploration and discovery. Our science specialist designs units of study to spark the young child's interest and curiosity about their world.
The goal of the preschool and transitional kindergarten Spanish program is to develop excitement towards learning the Spanish language while fostering a positive cross-cultural learning experience. In a lively and fun atmosphere, students acquire foundational vocabulary and language structure awareness that serves as the base for their language instruction in the primary school.
Our fine arts curriculum emphasizes the enjoyment and exploration involved in the process of creating art. Art projects, designed by our art specialist, are developmentally appropriate, involve both gross- and fine-motor skills and provide children with an opportunity to experiment with different materials. Children are also introduced to specific artists and periods in art history.
