Track & Field: Boys team takes home 3rd place at 2017 State Meet

The boys NGS track team placed 3rd out of 257 teams in the IESA State Tournament. In addition, several individual athletes/relay teams made the podium for their events:

  • Miles W.: State Champion for 7th Grade 110m Hurdles and 4th in the 200m Dash
  • Alex C.: State Champion for 7th Grade Shotput
  • Brooks H., Jonah S., Miles W., Alex C., and Teo C.: 2nd place for the 4 x 200 Relay Race
  • Brooks H., Jonah S., Miles W., Teo C., and Nadir M.: 6th place for the 4 x 400 Relay Race
Archery: Elementary team wins first place at 2017 State Tournament

NGS archers traveled to Springfield for the Illinois State NASP Tournament and returned with impressive hardware. The elementary team comprised of 4th and 5th grade students capitalized on several of their archers scoring their personal best of the season, which resulted in the team taking first place among four teams. The Middle School team placed 8th out of 18 teams. Both teams, as well as individual alumni archers, will next compete at the National Tournament in Kentucky, May 11-13.

Archery: MS team qualifies for nationals

The Next Generation School Archery team competed in the State Tournament in Springfield, Ill., on Saturday, April 2, and had an impressive showing. The Middle School Team achieved a high score of 3,042 points, which qualified the team to compete at Nationals in May. In addition, three individual students placed within their age group: Dina H. (MSA) who placed 3rd in Middle School Girls, Zoya A. (PF) who placed 4th in Elementary Girls, and Naajid S. (PF) who placed 7th in Elementary Boys. These students will compete both individually and on the team at Nationals. The National Tournament will be held in Louisville, KY, on May 12 - 14.

Girls Volleyball: 2016 7-1A IESA State Runner Up

The 7th grade girls volleyball has concluded its historic season as State Runner Up for the 7-1A tournament this year. The second place win was also featured in the News Gazette on Wednesday, March 23. The team defeated Pontiac St. Mary’s School in two sets, 25 to 18 and 25 to 12, in the first round. They advanced to the state final match after defeating Ashland A-C Central School in three close sets, 25 to 22, 26 to 28, and 25 to 17, in the semifinals. The team lost to Hartsburg-Emden, an undefeated team, in the finals. The final record for the team was 14 wins and 5 losses. This is the first NGS volleyball team to make it to the post season State finals.

Girls Volleyball: 2016 7G 1-A IESA Sectional Champions

The 2016 7th grade girls volleyball team has made NGS history again as the first ever to win a Sectional Championship in the sport. The team traveled to Cissna Park to face their team on Monday, March 7. The match was won in three sets, 26-24, 23-25, and 25-20. The win secured a place at the State Tournament, which takes place in Pawnee, Ill., on Saturday, March 12.

Girls Volleyball: 7th grade takes home first Regional Championship in 2016

The 7th grade girls volleyball team has made NGS history as the first volleyball team to take home a regional championship from the IESA 7-1A Regional Tournament. The girls took on the number one seeded Mustangs from Prairieview-Ogden. NGS began the match strong winning the first set 25-16. The Mustangs came back to win the second set 21-25. The final set determined the Trailblazers to be the champions, winning 25-13.

Girls Volleyball: 2nd place at 2016 7G Illini Conference Tournament

The girls volleyball 7th grade team took 2nd place out of six teams on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the 7th Grade Illini Conference Tournament. The Trailblazers overcame Thomasboro and Judah Christian, winning both matches in two sets, 25-10 and 25-10 vs. Thomasboro, and 25-11 and 25-9 vs. Judah. The Trailblazers nearly defeated Holy Cross in the final match, but eventually lost in two sets 19-25 and 18-25.

Boys Basketball: 2016 8G 1-A IESA Regional Champions

The 8th grade boys basketball team will be headed to the IESA 81-A Sectional Championship after taking the Regional Championship on Thursday, February 4. The Trailblazers won 47-37 against Prairieview-Ogden. The tournament featured five regional teams.
